What is SchoolPower?

The Laguna Beach Education Foundation (SchoolPower) was founded in the early 1980's with the goal of providing the extra monies to help ensure quality education in Laguna Beach. School Power is a nonprofit, nonpolitical group, organized by local citizens and administered by an active board of trustees. All funds are given directly to the school district and distributed by the school board according to recommendations of principals, teachers, and the superintendent.

Funds are raised from donations from community members during the Community Campaign and through various events during the school year. These include the Golf & Gourmet Classic, The Spring Dinner Dance & Auction and the Laguna Classic 10K Race.

Our Mission Statement -

The SchoolPower mission is to raise money, encourage all parents and the community to become more involved in childrens' education, and promote the spirit and professional development of the teaching staff.

We believe that the success of our schools is dependent on public and private support, both philosophically and economically.

Endowment and Capital Fund

The Endowment and Capital Fund was established with
the following goals in mind:

• To help fund start-up programs the district could not initially support.
• To fund multi-year programs that the annual SchoolPower campaign could not commit to support.
• To raise money for capital improvement projects such as the high school renovation and the Artists' Theater.
• To create a vehicle for large gift donations that could be held in perpetuity.
• To preserve the corpus of our capital while maintaining a steady stream of income to fund important educational programs in Laguna Beach Unified School District.
