  Overview

The Laguna Beach Unified School District offers a parent pay program for Kindergarten to eighth grade students of the district. The transportation fee program offers families these options:
* ANNUAL ROUND TRIP PASS,
* ANNUAL ONE WAY MORNING PASS,
* ANNUAL ONE WAY AFTERNOON PASS,
* SEMESTER ROUND TRIP PASS,
* OCCASIONAL USE COUPON BOOK OF 50 PASSES.

Families with more than two Kindergarten to eighth grade children using District Home-to-School Transportation are eligible for a discount. The first two students are full fare; a third student receives a 50% discount, the fourth student or more is District Paid.

Please note that the STATE TRANSPORTATION SAFETY PLAN requires students to have a "designated" bus stop. Possession of a current pass entitles a student to ride to and from his or her designated school and bus stop on the assigned bus. Each bus company must be able to tell their drivers who should be on their buses and where each disembarks.

A student needing to ride a bus other than his designated bus must have written permission from his parent/guardian on file with his school, and present a copy to the alternate bus driver. Reassignment to a different bus or stop can be obtained by submitting a written request to the Business office. Busing is limited to the school's attendance area. Bus stops must meet all state requirements for school bus stops.

If you have any questions about the passes, you may call the Business Services Division of the District at 497-7700, ext. 201 or 212. BUS ROUTE INFORMATION CAN ONLY BE OBTAINED FROM DURHAM TRANSPORTATION at (949) 376-0376.

  Student Behavior and Discipline

Parents are encouraged to read and go over the student responsibilities with their student, as well as the bus company rules and regulations, both of which are available at each school site. With the help of parents and the cooperation of all student passengers, the district is able to continue to provide safe transportation.

In order to guarantee safe transportation for students riding the bus, the District will not tolerate preventing drivers from doing their job or other students from having safe transportation. All students must behave appropriately and safely while riding on a school bus.

If a student breaks a rule, the consequences as outlined on the District bus citations are applied. If a student attempts to ride the bus after receiving a no-ride citation, further disciplinary action will be taken.
