Student Health & Safety

Cold and Flu Season is upon us. In an effort to keep students and staff healthy, please follow our District’s protocols for preventing the spread of illnesses. Influenza viruses are spread through the air when people cough or sneeze. Touching contaminated surfaces can also spread viruses. Please take the following preventive measures to reduce the spread of germs throughout the school year. Practice good hand hygiene: Students should be encouraged to wash their hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Practice good respiratory etiquette: Cover the nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, and throw the tissue in the trash after use. If a tissue isn’t available, cough or sneeze into one’s arm or sleeve. Students and staff should stay home when sick! Those with flu-like illness should stay home for at least 24 hours after they have stopped vomiting and are free of fever (100° or higher) without the use of fever-reducing medications. I will be reviewing these guidelines with staff and students throughout the flu season. My hope is that by working together we can reduce student and staff illnesses.
